The story:
Krayden partnered with a Contract Manufacturer to the Military and saved the customer about 25% (cost of material and time to repack themselves). As an authorized Distributor of Dow (the integrated supplier was not), we applied Dow 3145 and leveraged our repackaging expertise (changed the size of the cartridges) to eliminate air in the cartridges and save time (the previous process was too slow, lots of mistakes).
What is the application? | Repacking Dow 3145 from 4.5-gallon pails into 6 Oz. Semco cartridges
What issues was the end user having? | The customer was repacking DOW 3145 into 30cc syringes from 10.3 Oz. cartridges- not a good process, not cost effective. Too slow of a process, created a backlog.
What material was used to solve the issue? | Going from 30cc cartridges Dow 3145 to 6 Oz cartridges for automated dispensing
Why was the material chosen for the application? | The process was changed to have Krayden repack the cartridges, to eliminate the need for third-party operators. Larger cartridges meant that customer could do more assemblies at a time without having to change the cartridges as often.
Did the material improve the process? | This definitely improved the process by eliminating air in the cartridges and reducing re work.
Savings to end user in cost of material or process improvement? Time, $ or both? | About 25% between the cost of material, the time it took to repack themselves, and the rework that their process created. Because they were buying the 10.3 Oz. cartridges from the Integrated Supplier that they use, who were not authorized Dow distributors, and the fact that we are buying in pails, allows us to give them better pricing.
What industry/market was this material used in? | This product is used for parts on processor boards used in ruggedized laptops used by the military.
|
Saved the customer money due to the time it took for them to repack the material themselves. Eliminated the backlog and any rework created by air pockets in the syringes. Not having to change the cartridges as often all contributed to the cost savings. |
