Permabond 620 is a single component, UV curable, Methacrylate ester adhesive. The appearance of this material is colorless/clear and it has a tensile strength of 2300 psi per ASTM D-2095. It is a high quality product that is 100 percent solid and resistant to yellowing. This adhesive is extremely well suited for a wide variety of applications including decorative ornaments, glass furniture and on glass objects where high strength and appearance is required.
Permabond UV620 has a dielectric strength of 12 KV/mm and a dielectric constant 1MHz OF 4 at 25 degrees Celsius. The elongation is 75 percent and based on the refractive index it is a 1.49. This advanced material is fast curing with lower power lamps providing excellent adhesion to metal and glass. Density of the product is 1.1 and the cure wavelength is 365-400 nm. Permab ond 620 can withstand high temperatures for brief periods of time, but the minimum temperature that the cured adhesive can be exposed to is -55 degrees Celsius depending on the type of material being bonded.
When applying Permabond 620, it is important to have a dry, clean, grease-free surface. The adhesive can be applied directly from the bottle or dispensed using automated dispensing equipment. The cure will vary depending on the power of the UV lamp, spectral output and transmission characteristics of the substrates being bonded. Some metals such as copper and aluminum will benefit from light abrasion with a cloth to remove the oxide layer. It is strongly recommended to test any thermoplastics involved to ensure compatibility.
Knowing the proper storage and handling precautions when using Permabond UV620 is extremely important. If stored in its original unopened container the shelf life is 12 months. When storing this material it is important to keep it between 5 to 25 degrees Celsius. This product is not recommended to be used with strong oxidizing materials. Substrates should be firmly held together and not disturbed during cure. Expose the joint to UV light for the appropriate time to ensure the adhesive fully cures.
