Molykote D-7409 is a high wear resistance, high temperature resistance, greyish black anti-friction coating. The material is a heat curing dry film lubricant with a high load carrying capacity. This product has been used successfully for magnetic armatures of vehicle starter motors, bonnet lock components, piston rings and tappets of combustion engines. Its temperature service range is -70 to 300 degrees Celsius
Molykote D-7409 Anti-Friction Coating is formulated for permanent lubrication at extremely high temperatures where greases and oils cannot be used. The specialty lubricant is also suitable for highly stressed sliding areas with slow speeds, intermittent operations or oscillating movements. It is suitable with a variety of metal to metal combinations with moderately fast movements and moderate to high loads. Molykote D-7409 is resistant to grease, oils and solvents while providing excellent lubrication with corrosion protection. When applying the lubricant, it is important to clean and degrease the surface area that will be coated. Curing of the material will take approximately 30 minutes at a temperature of 220 degrees Celsius. The coating has a density of 1.17 g/ml at a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius. If a thinner is needed, Molykote 7415 is strongly recommended.
It is highly recommended to understand the handling precautions and proper application methods when dealing with Molykote D-7409. This product has not been tested nor is it suitable for pharmaceutical or medical uses. When this advanced material is stored at temperatures between 5 to 23 degrees Celsius in its tightly sealed, unopened container, the shelf life will be 36 months from the date of production.
