Molykote 316 is a heat stable silicone release agent designed to be used for many food and industrial applications. This advance compound reduces build-up on heat seal bars, resulting in increased heat transmission and sealing speed. It is capable of releasing evaporated milk and powdered milk from evaporator and preheater tubes. The silicone material meets FDA 21 CFR 175.300 regulations. It is effective in solving a wide range of adhesion of sticking issues in a wide range of industries.

Molykote 316 silicone release spray is clear in color. Drying time will take approximately 3 minutes and the flash point is -8°C. Density of the material at 25°C is 0.75 g/ml. The anti-stick agent is well suited for high speed rotary letterpress printing, for flexography applications and for the bindery industry. Silicone film formed by Molykote 316 resists breakdown due to corrosion, which can leave carbonaceous residues or gummy surfaces. When dried, the silicone has a low volatility at temperatures up to 199°C
Before applying, surfaces need to be cleaned and free from any residue with a fine emery cloth or scouring powdered. Methods of application may vary depending on the size, accessibility, and the complexity of the unit to be processed or packaged. Typically, Molykote 316 is sprayed in a light film. This material can also be buffed onto metal surfaces with a hand buffer. Only a thin layer is required for effective release. The release agent is insoluble in water, acetone, ethanol, glycol and glycerin. It can be dispersed in naphtha.

When stored at or below 35°C, the silicone release spray has a shelf life of 60 months form the date of manufacture. The chemical should not be applied to surfaces that will be painted later, since it may interfere with the adhesion of the paint.
