LORD 7650 is a moisture cure, single-pack, urethane adhesive adhering to plastics, fabrics, prepared metals, urethane foams and polyethylene foam. It provides good water and chemical resistances while delivering good Impact resistance.
LORD 7650 Urethane is a single component material that provides green strength and high initial tack. Typical applications for this product include tank linings, automobile interiors, carpeting, gaskets, construction panels and flooring. LORD 7650 works like a contact adhesive, as it cures the adhesive becomes cross linked permanently. The appearance of the material is honey, clear and the density is 7.8-8.4 lb/gal. The flash point is 3 degrees Celsius and the percent solids are 61 to 66 percent.
When applying this product, it is important to remove all surface contamination using an isopropanol (IPA) or methyl ethyl ketone (MEK). Most substrates do not require abrasion, but metal adhesion can be enhanced by mechanical preparation. Apply the urethane using a roll coater, roller, spray, brush or flow coats methods. Tack will develop in approximately 15 to 30 minutes when the solvent has evaporated. Applying LORD 7650 Urethane to one side of the substrate is sufficient enough for a strong bond. After 10-30 minute solvent flash, tack will develop allowing the substrates to be handled without coming apart. Full cure will take approximately 1 to 5 days depending on the type of substrate and relative humidity.
LORD 7650 Urethane is available in gallons, pails and half pints. The shelf life will be 6 months from the date of shipment in its unopened container at temperatures between 21 to 27 degrees Celsius. The typical bond strengths will vary depending on the types of substrates being bonded. Vinyl to aluminum will be 30 to 25 pli and rubber to metal will be 15 to 20 pli (pounds per linear inch), thin rubber tear. It is important to understand the handling precautions and the proper application methods of this urethane material.
