LORD 310 is a modified, environmentally friendly epoxy adhesive that is formulated to bond a variety of materials including plastics, prepared metals, urethane and prepared rubber. The general purpose adhesive is designed to bond oil field equipment, disk drives, vibration dampening mounts, automotive body panels and spoilers.
LORD 310 is a two component thixotropic epoxy adhesive system. This durable adhesive provides excellent load bearing properties that are equal to or greater than the substrates being bonded. LORD 310 epoxy is capable to perform at temperatures from -40 to 204 degrees Celsius. It will resist outgassing up to a temperature of 107 degrees Celsius and resists post breaks up to a temperature of 204 degrees Celsius. LORD 310 epoxy adhesive resists a wide range of chemicals including oils, dilute acids, alkalis, solvents and hydrocarbons. This innovative material can be either room temperature or heat cured for faster processing. 310 A resin is an off white paste and 310-B hardener is a grey paste. Once they are thoroughly mixed together the paste will be black in appearance. When mixing the two components together it is recommended not to whip excessive air into the adhesive. Heat buildup will happen due to an exothermic reaction between the hardener and the resin. This will shorten the amount of working time.
This product will have a full strength cure in 24 hours. Higher temperatures will allow a faster cure but the bondline temperature should never exceed 162 degrees Celsius. Once the adhesive is cured, it can be filed, sanded, machined and handled. It is important to understand the proper storage, shelf life and handling precautions when dealing with LORD 310. This epoxy system will have a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture if it is stored in its original unopened container at temperatures between 4 and 27 degrees Celsius. Clean the excess adhesive on the bonded substrates and equipment before it dries with hot water and detergent or use an organic solvent. If the adhesive has already cured, heat it up to 204 degrees Celsius to make the material soften allowing it to be easily removed. For more information regarding the proper handling of this advanced material, refer to the LORD 310 MSDS.
