Loctite HC 3056 Aero is a two component, low density, room temperature cure potting compound that is ideal for use in honey comb panels for edge close out, insert potting and smoothing. The advance epoxy paste adhesive provides good compressive strength and is low density. Loctite HC 3056 is a closed structure with minimum moisture penetration and it is self-extinguishing. Even though the product is epoxy chemistry, cleanup is with hot, soapy water rather than solvents.

Loctite HC 3056 is white in color and once mixed together at 25°C, creates a viscous paste. Mix ratio is 100 by weight of part A to 34.2 by weight of part B. Pot life of a 70 gram mass at 25°C is approximately 60 minutes per ASTM D2471 in water bath. Tensile lap shear strength at 25°C is 1,300 psi OR 9.0 MPa. Flammability tested per FTMS 406, method 2021: horizontal, self-extinguishing within 5 seconds and vertical self-extinguishing within 10 seconds
Mixing greater than 450 grams of material is dangerous because heat buildup can occur causing uncontrolled decomposition. Surfaces need to be cleaned and dried before application. Handling strength will occur in 24 hours at room temperature. Full cure will occur in 5 to 7 days. Accelerated cure up to 66°C for small masses only can be used as an alternative. It is strongly recommended to remove excess material from the work area and on equipment before it hardens. Loctite HC 3056 Aero can be cleaned by using hot, soapy water.
Before handling the material, reading and understanding the Loctite HC 3056 AERO MSDS is strongly recommended. Shelf life for both parts is 1 year when it is stored at 4°C in its unopened container. If stored at room temperature, shelf life decreases to 6 months. Use Loctite HC 3056 with adequate ventilation and avoid breathing in toxic vapors. This material is normally shipped out at ambient temperatures.
