Loctite Freeze and Release spray is a specialty lubricant made from a silicone-free mineral oil chemical. It has a lubricant viscosity of 1 cP. The main application of this product is rust treatment, allowing rusted bolts and nails to be penetrated and removed with ease. This product is a solution for releasing seized or corroded parts using a shock-freeze method. It also allows released parts to stay lubricated and protected from corrosion. Loctite Freeze and Release spray is clear light amber in appearance provided in 400 ml aerosol cans.
Loctite Freeze and release is specially formulated to freeze rusted nuts, bolts and studs down to -45 degrees Celsius providing a shock-freeze effect. This shocking method causes microscopic cracks in the
different layers of the rusted metals. It will begin to wick straight into the rust by capillary action, ( capillary action is the capability of liquids to wet easily to the surface of objects and wick very rapidly into hairline cracks) allowing the nuts or bolts to be removed with ease. This product is extremely flammable and is not recommended for use in pure oxygen or in oxygen rich systems. It is a high quality chemical lubricant that should not be selected as a lubricant for chlorine or oxidizing materials.
When preparing the area that will be sprayed, it is very important to remove loose rust and dirt. Shake the Loctite Freeze can well allowing the chemicals to flow. Spray the substrate for a minimum of 5 to 10 seconds at a recommended distance of 4 to 6 inches. It will only take 1 to 2 minutes for the material to penetrate the rust. If the rusted bolt, nut or stud remains seized, repeat the application process as needed. Loctite Freeze and Release comes in a pressurized container. It is very important to protect this material from sunlight and not to expose to heat exceeding 50 degrees Celsius. Loctite Freeze spray should be stored in a dry location at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
