Loctite EA 9309NA is a two component toughened epoxy paste adhesive that offers high peel strength, is room temperature cure and it will bond many surfaces. It is ideal for bonding wood, metal, plastics and glass. Once the material is cured, the bond will be flexible and resist salt spray, water and most common fluids. Service temperature is approximately 71 degrees Celsius per test method ASTM D1002. Its outstanding feature is excellent peel strength to aluminum.
Loctite EA 9309NA Aero part A is beige in color and part B is red. Once the two components are mixed thoroughly together it will create and red toughened adhesive. The viscosity at 25 degrees Celsius is 120 poise and the Brookfield, HBT is spdl 4 @20 rpm. Density of the mixed material is 1.1 g/ml and the pot life of a 450 gram mass is approximately 40 minutes at room temperature per ASTM D2471 in water bath. It has a compressive strength of 7,000 psi at 25 degrees Celsius. This product consists of two components and requires mixing prior to application to the parts to be bonded.
Temperature of the separate components is not critical but it is highly recommended to be near 25 degrees Celsius. Loctite EA 9309NA mix ratio is 100 by weight of part A to 23 by weight of part B. Volume measurement is not required for structural applications unless special precautions are taken to assure proper ratios. After mixing, heat buildup may occur which is normal. No more than 450 grams of material should be mixed because heat buildup can occur causing uncontrolled decomposition of the mixed adhesive. When applying, all bonded surfaces need to be properly cleaned and dried for optimum adhesion.
Bonded parts should be held together until the adhesive is set. Loctite EA 9309NA handling strength will occur in 12 hours at room temperature. Support tooling or pressure used during cure can be removed once handling strength is reached. The epoxy needs to be cured for 3 to 5 days at 25 degrees Celsius to achieve normal performance. Accelerated cure up to 93 degrees Celsius for small masses may be used as an alternative. One hour at 82 degrees Celsius will fully cure the product. It is strongly recommended to not handle the product until the Loctite EA 9309NA MSDS has been read and understood. This material is designed for industrial use only. When applying, adequate ventilation is required to avoid breathing in any toxic vapors.
