This material cures at room temperature to produce a black, rigid encapsulant that is non-corrosive to metallic components in electronic devices. The product was designed to act as an electrical insulator as well as providing environmental and chemical resistance. It is well suited to work with electrical components that are sensitive to corrosion.
The working life of 60 minutes at 25 degrees Celsius and the tack free time is approximately 180 minutes. Uncured Loctite 60NC has specific gravity of 1.10 at 25 degrees Celsius and the viscosity is 6,200 mPa. Tensile strength is 6,800 psi per ASTM D638 and the Dielectric strength is 550 volts/Mil. Loctite E 60NC has a tensile elongation of 8% per ASTM D638 and a shore D hardness of 85 per ASTM D-1706.
Mix ratio is 100 of the resin by weight to 91 of the hardener by weight. One the material is mixed properly it will be black opaque in color. Before applying, it is important to clean all surfaces of contaminates including films, oils, dust, mold release agent and all other contaminates. Gloves are strongly recommended to avoid contact with your skin when using Loctite E 60NC . To obtain maximum strength of the product, apply evenly on both surfaces. Allow the epoxy to cure at room temperature for 24 hours. If the time of cure needs to be sped up, heat the material up to 93 degrees Celsius.
