Loctite Ablestik 2902 is a two component, thermally conductive, solvent-free, room temperature cure material formulated for electronic bonding and sealing applications that require a combination of good mechanical and electrical properties. The advance material has high adhesion and will bond to a variety of substrates. Some of the typical assembly applications include electrical modules, printed circuitry, wave guides, flat cables, high frequency shields and cold solder. It also passes NASA outgassing standards and was tested and passed the requirements of ISO 10993-5 for Cytotoxicity. This product is known as Loctite Ablestik 2902.
Loctite Ablestik 2902 mixed viscosity uncured is 20,000 cP and the specific gravity is 3.2. The product will have a pot life of approximately 60 minutes. Typical curing performance is 24 hours at 25°C or 1 to 4 hours when heat cured at 65°C. Once cured, the glass transition temperature is 52°C and the hardness, shore D is Loctite Ablestik 2902 total mass loss is 0.64% and the collected volatile condensable material is 0.05%. Operating temperature is from -60 to 110°C. The epoxy is suitable to bond ceramics, many metals, glass and plastic laminates. Lap shear strength on aluminum is 11 N/mm² when cured at 110°C for one hour.
Loctite Ablestik 2902 Technical Information:
- Agency Approvals/Specifications: NASA Outgassing ASTM E 696-77/84/90
- Cure schedule at 65°C is an hour
- Can be room temperature or heat cured
- Pot life time 60 minutes
- Shelf life is 6 months
Before applying, clean and dry all surfaces that will be bonded. Mix ratio of Loctite Ablestik 2902 is 100 parts by weight of the resin to 6 parts by weight of the hardener. Apply the mixed adhesive to the clean surfaces and press them together. Contact pressure is adequate for a strong, reliable bond. It is recommended to maintain contact until the adhesive is completely cured. It is common to have some separation of components during shipping and storage. It is strongly recommended to mix thoroughly before using.
