Loctite 4090 is a two component, room temperature cure, high viscosity, cyanoacrylate/epoxy hybrid adhesive. This innovative material is designed to provide fast fixture at room temperature and it will work on a variety of substrates including wood, metal rubbers and most plastics. The product offers good moisture and temperature resistance which makes it well suited for applications in high humidity/temperature environments. The high viscosity allows this product to be well suited for applications where excellent gap filling properties are required. Loctite 4090 is one of the first of its kind offering solutions for many industrial applications.
Loctite 4090 Hybrid Adhesive has a 1 to 1 mix ratio by volume. Part A has an appearance of transparent, colorless to straw colored liquid and Part B is an off white to light yellow gel. Once the two components are mixed together, it will have an appearance of a clear to slightly cloudy gel. Curing will begin once Part A and B are mixed together thoroughly. Full strength will take some time but handling strength will be achieved almost instantly. Curing will vary depending on the type of substrate and on the ambient temperature.
The time to develop a shear strength of 0.01 N/mm² is approximately 180 seconds at 25 degrees Celsius. Bond areas should be clean and free from dirt, dust and grease. Loctite 4090 should be applied to one side of the bonded substrate and clamped together until the adhesive has fixtured. Keep the assembled components together until the bond has developed its full strength before subjecting it to any service load. Before applying or even handling the material it is strongly recommended to understand all of the safety precautions written on the Loctite 4090 MSDS. Optimal storage temperature is between 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. Anything lower or higher than the stated value can change the properties of the material. This product should not be used in pure oxygen systems or utilized as a sealant for strong oxidizing materials.
