HumiSeal UV500 was just recently approved by Ford for use on Automotive Electronic Systems.
HumiSeal UV500 is a UV dual cure, high solids elastomeric acrylate conformal coating. The innovative material offers flexibility, moisture resistance, chemical resistance and it displays excellent electrical insulation properties. UV500 is tack free after exposure to UV light and any exposed areas of the coating will fully cure in approximately 7 days due to the secondary moisture cure mechanism. The conformal coating has a higher flexibility than other UV curable coatings giving it improved performance in thermal cycling tests. HumiSeal UV 500 fluoresces under UV light to allow inspection and it can be applied by many selective coating equipment.
The density of the conformal coating is 1.0 to 1.1 g/cm³ and the minimum solids content is 98%. HumiSeal UV 500 viscosity is 275 to 375 per Fed-std-141, Meth. 4287. Glass transition temperature is -43°C and the coefficient of thermal expansion is 137ppm/°C below Tg, 311ppm/°C above Tg. HumiSeal UV500 recommended coating thickness is 25-125 microns. The conformal coating is highly cross-linked giving the cured film a high degree of environmental and chemical resistance making it more difficult to remove than traditional conformal coatings.
HumiSeal UV500 Benefits:
• Excellent thermal show resistance
• Best in class SIR/MIR performance
• Improved flow characteristics
• Primary UV cure with secondary moisture cure
• Reworkability through chemical removal
Before applying HumiSeal UV500, it is extremely important that the substrates are clean. Surfaces need to be free from wax, dirt, grease and all other contaminates. Highest long-term reliability for the coated circuit board will be when the conformal coating is applied over dry, clean substrate. Application of the coating can be done by spraying via standard selective coating equipment or brushing for rework or touch up only. At room temperature, HumiSeal UV500 has a shelf life of 6 months. More information can be found on the HumiSeal UV500 Technical Data Sheet.
HumiSeal UV500 Conformal Coating offers a high level of reliability in the protection of automotive electronics. Improved flow characteristics, proven thermal shock resistance and a primary UV cure with secondary moisture cure makes this an ideal product for automotive electronic applications.
