HumiSeal 1B51 is a single component, fast drying, conformal coating. It is made from synthetic rubber and is well suited for providing environmental and moisture protection on printed circuit assemblies. This innovative material has extremely low vapor permeability because of its unique base polymer. HumiSeal 1B51 has low stress, excellent flexibility and it can be repaired easily. The synthetic rubber is in compliance with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC.
It will take approximately 7 days for HumiSeal 1B51 to reach its optimum properties. The recommended coating thickness is 25-75 microns. This material will cure in 24 hours at room temperature and in 30 minutes at 76 degrees Celsius. Drying time to handle the printed circuit assembly will be 10 minutes per Fed-Std-141, Meth. 4061. Dielectric breakdown voltage is 4900 volts per ASTM D149. HumiSeal 1B51 passes fungus resistance per ASTM G21. This conformal coating provides excellent dielectric properties as well as good moisture and environmental protection for electronic components.
When applying this material it is important that the substrates are clean and free of dirt, wax, flux residues and grease. Any contaminates left on the substrates that get underneath the coating may have a high possibility of causing an assembly failure. There are 3 different methods that can be used when applying this product and they are spraying, brushing, and dripping. With the different methods of application, a thinner will be provided for that specific method.
Being cautious and understanding the proper application methods are extremely important when handling HumiSeal 1B51. The solvents included in the conformal coatings are extremely flammable and should not be used near sparks or open flames. It is highly recommended to use only in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhalation of spray or vapors. Also avoid having this conformal coating come in contact with skin or eyes. The shelf life of HumiSeal 1B51 is 18 months from the date it is manufactured if it is stored in a tightly sealed container at temperatures of 0 to 32 degrees Celsius. Before using, this material needs to equilibrate for 24 hours between the temperatures of 18 to 32 degrees Celsius.
