720 NC is a fast curing, high gloss finish, clear liquid release agent for highly filled resins and all cast polymer products. This innovative release coating has an application temperature of 12 to 43 degrees Celsius and is a room temperature cure material. The specific gravity at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius is 0.757 to 0.771 LMS. It is a high slip/low surface energy coating that provides multiple releases.
Frekote 720 NC contains a cross-linking polymer that is formulated for cast polymer manufacturers needing reduce their cycle time by releasing hot parts. It is also very well suited for applications with closed molding processes such as filament winding and RTM. Additionally, the unique formulation allows this material to be applied on highly porous mold surfaces. 720 NC is not recommended for use in oxygen rich or pure oxygen systems. Also, it should not be designated as a sealant for strong oxidizing materials. Before use, mold surfaces are required to be cleaned thoroughly removing all traces of prior release. The application of the release coating can be done by brushing, wiping, of spraying at room temperature up to 43 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to apply 2 to 3 base coats with 15 minutes between each coat. After the final coat, 720 NC will cure in approximately 15 minutes at a temperature of 22 degrees Celsius.
It is extremely important to understand the proper handling precautions and dangers when dealing with this advanced mold release chemical. Frekote 720 is classified as flammable and it shouldn’t be stored near combustible materials or near oxidizing agents. It should be stored in its original, tightly closed container at a temperature between 8 to 21 degrees Celsius in a cool dry location. Any temperature below 8 degrees Celsius or about 21 degrees Celsius will change the properties of the chemical. This product is moisture sensitive and should be kept in its container closed tightly. When handling Frekote 720 it is very important to use in a well-ventilated area to prevent any exposure to harmful vapors. It is recommended to use the product within the next 2 to 3 weeks once it is opened. Anything after the 3 weeks can alter the properties.
