Huntsman’s Epocast 1622 FST A/B has been designed for applications in need of high grade flammability resistance as well as low toxicity and low smoke density. This material is a two-component, pumpable epoxy syntactic that is easily extruded through Semco dispensing nozzles. Epocast 1622 FST A/B does not flow after it has been applied and will set quickly when at room temperature. Due to this materials low density, it cures rapidly and supports weight reduction. This product is a good choice for aerospace applications where rapid component assembly is required.
1622 FST A of this Pumpable Epoxy Syntactic is off white in color, and 1622 FST B is Amber. Once mixed together this product is off-white. The specific gravity of 1622 FST A is 0.73, and of 1622 FST B is 0.77. Separately, Epocast 1622 A and B are each a paste, but when mixed together, this materials viscosity is 14 cp at 77°F. The gel time of this Pumpable Epoxy Syntactic is 15 minutes for 55.7g at 77°F. When unopened, the shelf life for 1622 FST A and 1622 FST B is 12 months at 77°F.
The insert pull-out strength for Epocast 1622 FST A/B Epoxy Syntactic is 300 lbs at 73°F, and the insert torque-out strength is 100 lbs at 73°F. The compressive strength for this material is 8500 psi at 73°F (58.6 MPa at 23°C.) At 158°F the compressive strength is 3000 psi (20.7 MPa at 70°C.) The compressive modulus for Epocast 1622 FST A/B Epoxy Syntactic is 350 ksi at 73°F (2.41 GPa at 73°F.) Tensile lap shear, AL/AL, is 1700 psi at 73°F (11.7 psi at 23°C.)
