Buy Epocast 1614-A1
Epocast 1614-A1 is a one component, frozen, low density epoxy syntactic material that is specifically designed to be used on honeycomb composite parts that require a high compressive strength at temperatures up to 177 degrees Celsius. This innovative material is also well suited for attachment or fastener potting and panel edge reinforcing. It is qualified to BMS 5-28, Type 14, Class 1 and it meets many other specifications.
Huntsman Epocast 1614-A1 is a reddish brown color. Density is 0.75 g/cc per ASTM-D-1622 and extrudability is 800 g/min at 25 degrees Celsius. Extrusion rate will vary depending on the thawing method and length of time. Work life at room temperature after thawing out the material will be 8 hours. To cure, heat the epoxy syntactic from room temperature at a rate of 3-4 degrees Celsius per minute plus one hour at 177 degrees Celsius. Cure can also be accomplished in 90 minutes at 121 degrees Celsius. Slow heat rise of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius per minute is highly recommended because it reduces shrinkage and minimizes out-gassing.
Tensile lap shear is 1,000 MPa and compressive strength at room temperature is 14,500 MPa. Compressive strength will continue to degrease as the temperature increases. Weight gain on immersion after 24 hours at 25 degrees Celsius will vary. Weight gain on distilled water is 20%, skydrol hydraulic fluid is 20% and Mil-H-5606 hydraulic fluid is 30% per ASTM-D-543.
