NEW Epibond 300 A/B High Temperature Epoxy Adhesive from Huntsman Advanced Materials.
Epibond 300 A/B is a two component, room temperature curing epoxy adhesive designed for extreme environments. The advance adhesive is a gap-filling thixotropic paste with good retention of strength after environmental aging. It offers high lap shear strength and compression at ambient and elevated temperatures. The epoxy adhesive has no SVHC as defined under REACH and it is excellent for liquid shim. It is well suited for demanding applications requiring high heat resistance and retention of compressive strength.
Epibond 300 epoxy paste adhesive has a service temperature up to 204°C. The product is well suited for bonding a wide variety of substrates including metals, composites and many other dissimilar materials. The combination of a high lap shear strength and compression make this adhesive well suited for aerospace and composites. It offers a fast cure, with rapid buildup of lap shear strength with an easy mix ratio of 2:1 PBV. Once thoroughly mixed together, the material is gray in color. Specific gravity is 1.3 per ASTM D-891 and viscosity is a thixotropic paste at 25°C per ASTM D-2196.

- Flexible cure schedule
Gel time of 125 gm mass at room temperature is approximately 45 minutes. Mix ratio is 2 parts by volume of Epibond 300 A resin to 1 parts by volume of Epibond 300 B Hardener. Under normal temperature conditions and when using the proper mix ratio, Huntsman Epibond 300 will typically provide a working time between 30 to 35 minutes. Before applying, bonded areas need to be properly treated to ensure that they are free from any contaminates. The adhesive needs to be mixed for several minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. It should be spread with a spatula to a suitably preheated dry joint surfaces. A layer of 0.1 to 0.3mm thick will normally provide the maximum lap shear strength. Recommended cure cycle is for 3 days at 25°C and 1 hour at 66°C. It will be 85% cured in 6.5 hours.
Reading and understanding the Huntsman Epibond 300 MSDS is strongly recommended before handling. When stored in its original container in a dry location between 2 to 40°C, both the resin and hardener will have a twelve month shelf life from date of shipment. Tightly reseal Epibond 300 containers after use. When applying, use in a well ventilated area and use an approve NIOSH approved respirator. Eye and skin protection is normally advised when handling this epoxy.
