DOWSIL Q4-2805 is a single component, non-curing, fuel and oil resistant fluorosilicone channel sealant
DOWSIL Q4-2805 is a single component, non-curing, fuel and oil resistant fluorosilicone channel sealant primarily used for aircraft fuel tanks. The innovative material provides good tack adhesive, is unaffected by shock, vibration and thermal cycling. It contains no catalyst or curing agent and the excellent flow characteristics provides faster injection at reduced pressures. DOWSIL Q4-2805 is also suitable for various sealing applications that require a non-curing sealant. This product meets MIL-S-85334(AS).
DOWSIL Sealant Q4-2805 is designed to be injected directly by air gun into grooves of integral fuel tank systems during fabrication or maintenance. The physical nature of the material is putty-like and it is white in color. Relative density at 25°C is 1.37 and extrusion force is 91 kg. This advance fluorosilicone channel sealant withstands immersion in fuels and exposure to fuel vapors in temperatures up to 200°C. It will also maintain its consistency over a wide temperature range from -55°C to +200°C.

Any high pressure sealant gun may be used when dispensing the product. DOWSIL Q4-2805 will be injected from the gun directly in the channel, port by port, so the channel is filled by each section. When injecting, the nozzle should be in direct contact with the port. There is no specific recommendation to the amount of pressure to move the sealant down the channel. If a leak needs to be repaired, it is strongly recommended to defuel the plane. A dry tank will promote adhesion. 7 day immersion at 80°C in Jet reference fuel swell 30%, JP-4 swell is 12% and JP-5 is 12%. 7 day immersion at 80°C, plus 24 hours dry at 90°C JP-4 weight loss is 1.0%.
