Dowsil SE 9189 RTV is a one part polydimethylsiloxane adhesive. The viscosity of this product is 23300 Cp and it has a 97.6 % Non-Volatile Content. At a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, it will become tack-free in approximately 8 minutes. Dow 9189 may be applied by using an automated or manual needle. An effective temperature range for the silicone elastomer is -45 to 200 degrees Celsius for extended periods of time. Any temperature higher or lower may change the behavior of the material and applications can become complex requiring more consideration.
Dowsil SE 9189 is a room temperature cure material in an environment with 30 to 80 percent relative humidity. Mild heat below 60 degrees Celsius may be applied to accelerate the curing process. When exposed to vapor or liquid fuel or solvent, the product is only capable of handling a splash or intermittent exposure. The performance will be altered if there is continuous exposure to solvents and fuel. Dow SE 9189 will provide unprimed adhesion to a variety of substrates including ceramics, reactive metals, laminates, resins, plastics, and glass. Good adhesion cannot be expected on non-reactive plastics or non-reactive metals.
