Dow SE 9184 White RTV is a non-flowing, thermally conductive adhesive that is tack-free with excellent flame resistance and controlled volatility. This advanced material is formulated to provide a tough bond with thermal transfer to cool a wide variety of electronic components.
Dowsil SE 9184 is one component, room temperature cure, polydimethylsiloxane adhesive. At a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, this material will be tack-free for 3 minutes. The adhesive has a UL 94V-0 flammability rating and requires no mixing. The specific gravity of the cured product is 2.2 and the NVC (Non Volatile Content) is approximately 98.9%. Dow SE 9184 White RTV will cure when it is exposed to moisture in the air producing a non-corrosive, low-stress elastomer. The one component adhesive will cure at room temperature in a range of 0 to 80 percent of relative humidity. Physical properties will be attained within 4 to 7 hours of application. This material will generally cure 6.35 mm per 7 days. It can also be considered for uses requiring thermal dissipation and added flame resistance. Dowsil SE 9184 service temperature ranges from -45 to 200 degrees Celsius for an extended period of time. If the temperature is above 200 or below -45 degrees Celsius, the application becomes complex requiring more consideration. Application methods used to dispense this material include automated or manual needle dispensing systems.
When handling this material, it is of extreme importance that you understand the limitations, usable life and the proper storage of Dowsil SE 9184 White RTV. The material should be stored in its tightly sealed container avoiding any contamination. The expiration date will be located on the label. This product is capable to withstand a minimal amount or intermittent solvent exposure. It is strongly recommended to keep it away from exposure altogether to ensure a tough bond.
