Providing excellent thermal stability and low-temperature 
resistance, Dowsil SE 4485 is an advanced moisture cure adhesive. This product is specifically designed for applications that require a thermally conductive bond. It is a flowable, low volatile RTV silicone material.
Dow SE 4485 is one part, non-solvent adhesive that cures rapidly and can stick to most substrates. This innovative material does not cause corrosion on metals such as copper and it is tack-free for approximately 3 minutes at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. It is a moisture cure silicone and the speed of cure will depend on the thickness applied to the substrate. At a depth of 3mm, the cure rate expected is 48 hours at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius with 30 to 80 percent relative humidity. Once cured DC SE 4485 has an appearance of a white paste providing excellent low-temperature resistance. The adhesive passes the UL 94 V-0 flammability tests and develops excellent adhesion to most materials without the use of a primer. Some of the substrates it is formulated to provide unprimed adhesion to include ceramics, reactive metals, glass, as well as some laminates. Good adhesion should not be expected on non-reactive plastics or non-reactive metals. Dow SE 4485 is available in 280g tubes and in 330ml cartridges.
It is extremely important to understand the proper application methods and handling precautions when dealing with this silicone sealant. When stored at or below a temperature of 32 degrees Celsius in the original unopened container, Dowsil SE 4485 will have a shelf life of 9 months from the date of production. All substrates must be clean and dry when applying the material. It is recommended to wash any contaminants that may impair adhesion. Apply a bead of DC SE 4485 between the two substrates that are needed to be bonded. The freshly applied material may be tooled for a period of its tack free time. When Dow SE 4485 is exposed to liquid, vapor solvent or fuel it is only capable to only withstand a splash or intermittent exposure.
