DOWSIL™ EA-4600 is a reactive silicone hot melt adhesive that is designed for electronic assembly applications. This advance product effectively utilizes hot-melt technology to dispense and silicone technology to achieve instant green strength and it will cure to a strong silicone adhesive. The product has a long pot life and it provides primerless adhesion to most plastics and metals. Service temperature is between -45 to 150° C.
DOWSIL™ EA-4600 HM is a one component, neutral cure silicone hot-melt adhesive. This product is the first of its kind, a silicone hot-melt adhesive. Viscosity of the material is 60 Pa.s at 120° C and the Nonvolatile content is 98.5 percent. Open time for the product is 15 minutes and the pot life at 120°C is one day. Tensile strength is 4.6 MPa and elongation is 1000 percent per ASTM D412. This product is a viscoelastic material when cured, once it is exposed to high temperatures it will soften but it will recover to its typical properties when cooled down.

Specific gravity of the adhesive is 1.08 when it is uncured and the dielectric strength is 496 Volts/mil. This product has excellent electrical properties making it suitable for most electronic assembly applications. Dielectric constant at 100 Hz is 2.68 and the dissipation factor at 100 Hz is 0.004. Thermal conductivity is 0.17 and thermal diffusivity is 0.11 mm²/s. Before applying, surfaces should be clean and dry to ensure the best results. The temperature of the hot-melt is typically 120°C during application. Substrates need to be assembled within 15 minutes of application, it will begin to react with atmospheric moisture to form a strong, flexible bond.
Before handling, it is very important to read and understand the DOWSIL™ EA-4600 MSDS. When stored or below 32°C in its original container, the product will have a usable life of 12 months from the date of production. It should not be used in spaces completely confined from atmospheric moisture during cure, in applications that will have continuous water immersion and on surfaces that might bleed oils, plasticizers or solvents. The product has not been tested or deemed suitable for medical or pharmaceutical uses.
