Dowsil CC-2570 is a single component, medium viscosity, transparent conformal coating with no UV dye. This advance product will cure at room temperature with optional heat cure acceleration after solvent flash-off. It will provide good adhesion to many low solids, no clean, no lead solders. The conformal coating can be used for coating over rigid and flexible circuit boards in LED lighting and display applications.
Dowsil CC-2570 Conformal Coating is transparent with all visible wavelengths and the no UV dye eliminates fluorescence in the presence of UV energy. Viscosity of the material is 1,000 cP and the specific gravity cured is 1.11. Tack free time 25° C will be approximately 7 minutes. If the heat is increased to 60° C with 15 percent relative humidity, tack free time will be 1.3 minutes. Dow Corning CC-2570 has a durometer shore A of 76. The Dielectric properties are excellent allowing this product to be well suited for LED applications. It has a dielectric constant of 2.74 at 100 Hz and the dissipation factor is 0.0042 at 100 Hz.
This Dow RTV conformal coating will cure to a tough elastoplastic that will be abrasion resistant. Various viscosity versions will required different application methods which include spray, brush, flow, dip and automated pattern coating. Pot life of Dow CC-2570 will be dependent on the type of application method that is chosen. Minimizing exposure to moisture by using dry air or dry nitrogen blanketing whenever possible will also extend the pot life. With typical RTV coatings, adhesion will lag behind cure and may take up to 72 hours to build in some coatings. Typical cure for 3 mil of product will be 10 minutes at room temperature followed by 10 minutes at 60° C.
