Dow Corning 737 RTV neutral cure clear sealant is a non-slumping, one-component, fast cure paste that offers the user exceptional adhesion to many plastic, glass, metal, rubber, and painted surfaces. With that connection, the adhesive doesn’t react with or corrode most plastics or metals; with a few exceptions in some not so standard applications. The applications to avoid are situations with continuous water immersion, materials that bleed oils, plasticizes, solvents, impregnated wood, or oil-based caulks. As well, being in a confined space where the sealant is not exposed to atmospheric moisture will lead to a non-complete cure.
This clear neutral cure sealant is a very diverse product with a wide range of applications but was specifically designed for OEM and assembly uses. The more general use of the product includes the sealing and bonding of formed-in-place gasketing and maintenance applications. The specific uses of Dow Corning 737 RTV sealant comprises: waterproofing electrical components, protecting instrumentation assemblies, sealing coaxial connectors, and connecting plastic moldings to plastic substrates for trim applications, such as decals. This product is also commonly used for the sealing of freezer and refrigerator liners.

Preparing the surfaces that will receive the Dow Corning 737 RTV sealant is a quick and easy process. All it requires is a firm wipe down with a solvent such as Dow Corning OS Fluids and an oil-free rag. Priming the surface is not required for most facades such as glass, aluminum, and steel but it is usually recommended to have a test placement before general use. Dow Corning 737 RTV sealant is a 100% silicone rubber and cures at room temperature upon exposure to moisture in the air, or more commonly known as having an Oxime cure. With a very fast skin-over time of 3 to 6 minutes and a 14-minute tack-free time, it is entirely cured for handling within 24 hours. It does a fantastic job of not sagging, slumping, or running off surfaces and cured materials will remain flexible from -65 to 177°C. Dow Corning 737 neutral cure sealant should be applied in a continuous process with light pressure to spread it against the substrate. Be sure to tool it immediately after sealant application and before a skin forms. The uncured sealant can be cleaned with utensils using commercial solvents or one of Dow Corning’s OS Fluids. Make sure on porous surfaces to allow excess sealant to cure before removal by abrasion or other mechanical means. Dow Corning 737 should always be stored at or below 32 °C to maximize the shelf life of 24 months for the product.
