Dowsil 736 is a firm paste that cures into a solid rubber material. The curing process takes up to 24 hours at room temperature and exposure to moisture. This product can be applied overhead or on side walls because it has a paste like consistency and it will not sag or run. A great feature of Dowsil 736 is the capability to be exposed to temperatures from 260 to -65 degrees Celsius. It also can be intermittently exposed to heat up to 315 degrees Celsius. This material comes in tubes, cartridges, pails and drums. It is important to thoroughly clean the surfaces that are about to be bonded or sealed. It can be applied by using a wooden paddle or spatula directly onto the material. The curing time will increase with the thickness of the sealant applied. Dow 736 RTV complies with FDA regulation 21 CFR177.2600 when fully cured and washed. This product was designed to meet Mil-A-46106A.
Dowsil 736 Heat Resistant Sealant unopened should be stored below 32 degrees Celsius. This product has a shelf life of 30 months from the date of manufacture. Dowsil 736 RTV sealant will not work properly and does not have the capability to seal or bond applications for underwater immersion, masonry surfaces, surfaces that need to be painted and impregnated woods. It is not recommended to use Dow 736 RTV Sealant near sensitive metals such as zinc, carbon, brass, copper or steel. The metals will corrode due to the acetic acid release throughout the curing process. The acid will give off an odor during the curing period, but once the process is complete the odor will disappear.
