Dow 3140 is a polydimethysiloxane adhesive designed to protect sensitive components from corrosion. This advanced material is capable for uses requiring added flame resistance, Mil Spec or IPC testing. It is room temperature cure in an environment containing at least 30 to 80 percent relative humidity. DC 3140 also provides protection of extremely rigid and flexible circuit boards with no added solvents. The main purpose of this high quality adhesive is for electronic components.

DC 3140 adhesive is a one component, clear to slightly hazy viscous liquid which is UL 94 V-1, IPC-CC-830 and MIL-A-46146 tested.  It has good flowability with faster in-line processing with optional heat acceleration. This formulated material has a much shorter handling time ranging from 10 to 120 minutes depending on the amount applied. Mild heat below 60 degrees Celsius can be used to increase the through-put by accelerating the curing process. Dow Corning 3140 can be applied by using brush, flow, syringe or needle. Once this product is dispensed, it is capable to flow, fill or self-level. This silicone adhesive is only intended to survive intermittent or splash exposures. DC 3140 is not capable to withstand continuous fuel or solvent exposure.

Multiple package sizes are available at Krayden Inc. for Dowsil 3140 RTV. For the best results from the adhesive it is recommended to store at the specific temperature that is listed on the label. This will allow the prevention of moisture build up in the material which causes it to weaken or alter the characteristics. It is strongly recommended by the manufacturer to clean and degrease the substrates before applying the adhesive. This will allow a larger and clean surface area for a strong, stable adhesion.  DC 3140 is specially formulated to provide strong unprimed adhesion to a wide variety of reactive metals, glass, ceramic, laminates resins and plastics. There may not be strong adhesion to materials such as non-reactive metals or non-reactive plastic surfaces such as polypropylene.
