Dowsil 2634 is a clear, low viscosity, easy clean coating for glass, plastic, metal or ceramics. This advance material will have no impact on substrate appearance and it covalently bonds to glass, plastic and metal oxide surfaces. It will create an easy to clean surface with a low coefficient of friction. The product is suitable for flat-panel displays, touch-screens on electronic devices, office equipment and cell phone components.

Dowsil 2634 Coating is composed of 20% active polymer in solvent. It will dry into a thin, transparent film that will provide excellent oil and water repellency. The appearance is a colorless to pale yellow and the specific gravity at 20°C is 1.5. Viscosity at 25°C is 1.0 mm²/s and the nonvolatile content is 20%. This innovative material is formulated for demanding application, such as handheld electronic devices and displays that have a challenge of obtaining a fouling-resistant surface with long-term surface performance durability.

Dow surface coating is a new alkoxysilane functional perfluoropoly ether (PFPE) hybrid that exhibits the synergistic effects of the oleophobicity and low coefficient of friction of fluoropolymers and the hydrophobicity and durability of silicone. Dowsil 2634 is resistant to wear by rubbing, allowing the surface to stay cleaner for a longer period of time. The product can be applied by dip coating or PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) Coating. Dow 2634 needs to be diluted to 0.1% solids with an appropriate solvent. Dip the substrate in the solution for approximately 3 minutes and dry the coating for 8 hours at room temperature. Heat cure at 50°C will take only 1 hour. Drying in an acidic environment will increase the bonding rate to the substrate.

Before handling, reading and understand the Dow 2634 MSDS is strongly recommended. The coating will have a usable life of 15 months from date of manufacture. Hydrolysis process is extremely slow, especially in neutral environments. This may cause the coating more than a week to cure completely. The product is available in 20 and 100g bottles.
