The advanced adhesive has a UL Flammability classification of UL 94-V0.
Dowsil 1-4173 Thermally Conductive Adhesive is a one part, gray, heat cure material. This product has a versatile cure processing controlled by temperature. It will also flow away from electronic components which increases reliability. The advanced adhesive is made up of polydimethylsiloxane and Aluminum Oxide. There is no mixing of separate components and when Dow 1-4173 is dispensed it is able to flow, fill and self-level. This product will develop an excellent, primerless adhesion to a variety of substrates including ceramics, epoxy laminate boards, metals, reactive materials and filled plastics.
If this material is heat cured at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius it will be done in approximately 90 minutes. The silicone should be cured at a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius or higher to ensure a proper cure. The length of pre-cure will be dependent of section thickness and confinement of adhesive. Dowsil 1-4173 has a service temperature range of -45 to 200 degrees Celsius. At the high and low end of the temperature spectrum the behavior and performance may be altered and become more complex requiring more consideration. A prolonged exposure to solvents to the adhesive will alter the adhesion. This material is only intended to survive a splash or intermittent exposures.
