Dowsil 1-4105 is a single component, heat cure, low viscosity conformal coating. The innovative material has no added solvents, has a UL V-1 flammability rating and it will cure to a soft, low-stress elastomer. This conformal coating is well suited to be used as a protective coating

for rigid and flexible circuit boards. It is composed of a silicone elastomer. Dowsil 1-4105 offers a rapid and a versatile curing process controlled by temperature. Its low viscosity enhances flow and fills in narrow gaps and spaces.

Dowsil 1-4105 Conformal Coating is clear with a viscosity of 450 cP. The specific gravity of cured material is 0.97 and tensile strength is 35 psi. Elongation is 70 percent and tensile modulus is 50 psi. This material provides good adhesion and can be used with many low-solids and no-lead solders. Dielectric strength is 500 volts/mil and the volume resistivity is 2.7E+13 ohm*cm. Dielectric constant at 100 Hz is 2.63 and the dissipation factor at 100 Hz is <0.0002. Solventless heat cure conformal coatings are designed for rapid processing at low temperatures. The material will require some heating to cure, offering long bath at 25°C. Application methods for the conformal coating include dip, spray, brush, flow, and automated pattern coating. Curing of Dowsil 1-4105 will be dependent on film thickness, type of oven and board population density. To maximize the pot life, tank temperatures should be maintained at less than 29°C. Some materials, chemicals, curing agents and plasticizers can inhibit the cure of addition cure adhesive.

Reading and understand the Dow Corning 1-4105 MSDS is recommended before handling. The silicone should be operational over a temperature range of -45 to 200°C for extended periods of time. Low-temperature performance, thermal cycling for conditions up to -55°C but performance should be verified for your parts. Dowsil 1-4105 Conformal Coating should be stored in its original package with the cover tightly sealed to avoid contamination. This material is not tested nor represented suitably to be used for pharmaceutical or medical uses.
