Cytec 2523 is a two part polyurethane formulated to be used as a casting system. The material is resistant to mild acids, bases, salt water and aliphatic hydrocarbons. This advanced casting system is recommended for potting electronic devices that are subjected to harsh environments and extreme thermal shock. At 25 degrees Celsius, 1lb of this product mixed will have a peak exotherm 53 degrees Celsius and at 60 degrees Celsius, the peak exotherm will be 110 degrees Celsius.
Cytec EN 2523 can be cured at elevated or room temperature. Some of the outstanding features of this advanced material include low build-up during cure, low exotherm, low shrinkage, and excellent electrical properties. The viscosity of Cytec 2523 is low permitting thorough impregnation of electronic assemblies. Part A resin is a dark brown liquid and the curative Part B is a tan or black liquid. The two components should be mixed in a glass or metal container using metal or glass stirrers. Demold time will take approximately 8 to 10 hours at 25 degrees Celsius. A full cure of the material will take 7 days at 25 degrees Celsius or 16 hours when heat cured at 80 degrees Celsius.
Tensile strength of Cytec EN 2523 is 1600 psi, the product has a 50 percent elongation and the liner shrinkage is .59%. A good pouring viscosity 2800 cps of a 600 gram mass is maintained for 30 to 40 minutes at room temperature. Specific gravity at 25 degrees Celsius is 1.44. The shelf life of both part A and B is 18 months from the date it is manufactured when it is stored in its unopened container between the temperatures of 65 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit. It is not resistant to chlorinated hydrocarbons, oxygenated and aromatic solvents. This high quality product available in 55 gallon, 5 gallon, gallon and quart containers. It will cure to a tan solid but it is also available in black. More information in regards to the material, refer to the Cytec 2325 MSDS.
