Cytec 1170 is a solvent-based, acrylic conformal coating that meets the requirements of MIL-I-46058-C for type AR coatings as well as the IPC-CC-830B. The main purpose for this advanced coating is for thin film applications on printed circuitry and components. Conap CE-1170 is halogen free based on the IEC 61249-2-21.
Cytec CE 1170 is a one component, room temperature cure material that provides good hydrolytic stability, excellent humidity resistance, while retaining outstanding flexibility. The flexibility of the product prevents fracturing of components during the thermal cycle. Cytec Conap CE-1170 cured will maintain good adhesion to epoxy and phenolic glass laminates in harsh weather conditions. The appearance of this innovative material before cure is a slight amber haze and it has a Brookfield viscosity of 400 cps at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. At a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, the coating will become tack-free in approximately 15 minutes. The full cure of this acrylic conformal coating will be in 24 hours at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and 45 minutes at a temperature of 60 degrees Celsius.
Once cured it has a clear, colorless appearance. Cytec Conap CE-1170 is flame resistant, self-extinguishing per FED STD-406 and it provides excellent fungus resistance with a rating of 0 per MIL-STD-810B. Two coats with a thickness of 2 mils are recommended to ensure the ultimate protection. Cytec 1170 can be applied by dipping, spraying or brushing methods. When using the spray method the conformal coating needs to have a dilution ratio of 1 to1 by volume to prevent cobwebbing. It is extremely important for the substrate to be clean before applying the conformal coating permitting a strong adhesion and averting corrosion under the film. This product is available in aerosol cans, quart, gallon, 5 gallon and 55 gallon containers. Cytec Conap CE-1170 has only fair resistance to solvents and can be easily removed by ketones or toluene.
It is strongly recommended to understand the proper storage and handling precautions when using Cytec 1170. This material must be kept between the temperatures of 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Shelf life of the product will be 18 months from date of manufacture kept in its original, unopened container. The conformal coating should only be applied in a well-ventilated area and kept there while it is curing. Avoid skin contact or inhaling the vapors or spray. Product is flammable and needs to be stored away from any sparks or open flames. For more information about this high quality conformal coating refer to the Cytec Conap CE-1170 MSDS.
