When Elantas Conathane EN-1556 is fully cured, it becomes a cold-flow resistant, tough elastomer that provides excellent protection from contamination and corrosion. The innovative material has two parts and provides excellent resistance to a wide variety of chemicals including gasoline, oils, ocean water, and water. Elantas 1556 can be cured either by room or elevated temperatures. At a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, Part A has a viscosity of 18,000 cps. At the same temperature, Part B will have a viscosity of 3,000 cps. A temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit, the demolding time of the material will be 24 hours and the complete cure with be approximately 10 to 14 days. Elevating the temperature to 212 degrees Fahrenheit will decrease the demolding time to 30 minutes and the complete cure will take 8 to 10 hours. The amount of mold mass, material and complexity of the substrates will cause the curing time to vary. Once it is fully cured, it will be a clear amber color or a black solid.
The understanding of the proper safety precautions, application methods and storage of the material is extremely important. Elantas 1556 will have a shelf life of 15 months from the date of manufacture when it is properly stored in its original tightly sealed container at a temperature below 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Part A will react with atmospheric moisture because it is an isocyanate prepolymer. When mixing and applying Elantas EN-1556, it is high recommended to do so in a well-ventilated area. This material contains some traces of free toluene diisocyanate (TDI). Avoid contact with the skin and breathing in the toxic vapors.
