Lord Circalok 6037 is a thixotropic paste that offers low shrinkage, high heat transfer and a coefficient of thermal expansion that is similar to that of aluminum or copper. This advanced epoxy product is formulated to be used by the semiconductor industry. It is capable of resisting severe temperature cycling and it bonds to a wide variety of substrates. Some of the typical applications are general purpose bonding of electronic components, fabricating heat sinks, bonding semiconductors and transistors to heat sinks.
Uncured, Circalok 6037 has a specific gravity of 2.3-2.4 at 25 degrees Celsius. The adhesive is available in black or green and it has a paste like consistency. It will have a tensile strength of 10,500 psi and 25 degrees Celsius and the compressive strength is 29,400 psi. Circalok 6037 Black will have a continuous service temperature between -65 to 155 degrees Celsius. The service temperature is increased to -100 to 250 degrees Celsius if it is used intermittently. When it is used to bond semiconductors to heat sinks, it will also serve as an electrical insulator. This product is recommended to be used with one of LORD’s hardeners depending on the application.
The hardeners include Circalok 6010B, Circalok 6252, LORD E-62S and LORD HT-75. All of the hardeners provide a different characteristic when used with Circalok 6037. This material has a dielectric strength of 1000-2000 volts /mil based on .003” thickness. Hardness, Shore D is 92-94 and the bond shear strength after being submerged under water at room temperature is 2,930 psi. The product needs to be stirred thoroughly within the container it was shipped in to ensure even dispersion. Add the correct amount of resin in a new container with the proper amount of hardener by weight. Use an air driven mixer but be careful not to whip excessive air into the epoxy.
As with any type of adhesive, it is important to understand all of the handling precautions and safety measures that need to be taken when handling this product. It is strongly recommended to read the Circalok 6037 MSDS. If stored in its unopened container, this product will have a shelf life of 12 months. Labels on the container will have the current information on the hazards that are associated to this product
