Henkel’s BONDERITE C-AK 4181 Industrial Alkaline Cleaner
Bonderite C-AK 4181 is a grainy mix that has been designed to effectively eliminate paint, shop soils, rust, and light scale from parts found in jet engines through immersion techniques. This white powder is used in metal pretreatment processes and remains non-flammable when in powdered or solution form. This blend rinses away from parts easily with high-pressure water and is readily soluble in cold water when used at suggested concentrations. Bonderite C-AK 4181 can be controlled by simple titration, and will remove Sermetal W.
To mix Bonderite C-AK 4181 Alkaline Cleaner properly, fill the tank with clean, lukewarm water to ¾ of its operative level. Gradually add the powder to the final volume of water at a ratio of 200 to 340 g/l. Continuously add Bonderite C-AK 4181 Alkaline Cleaner while mixing the solution until the powder has thoroughly dissolved. At this point, finish by adding cold water to the mix until the tank is full. The ideal operating temperature for this solution ranges from 88°C to 93°C with an immersion time of 15 to 30 minutes. For best results throughout its use, the level of the solution should be maintained by periodically adding fresh, cold tap water. If further information for Bonderite C-AK 4181 is necessary, please contact a certified Krayden Technical Representative for assistance.
Tanks and related equipment used to handle Bonderite C-AK 4181 Aero Alkaline Cleaner must be made of stainless steel. This product will not attack stainless steel, magnesium alloys, ferrous alloys, bronze, brass, or Monel alloys when used as suggested. At up to 65 g/l of water at temperatures up to 77°C, this solution can be used to clean titanium alloys for 15 to 30 minutes as well. Parts should be rinsed with high-pressure spray, or by an overflowing, agitated immersion method. An air and water rinse following an immersion rinse is also an effective cleaning technique.

Bonderite C-AK 4181L is highly alkaline, and should not be used on tin, aluminum, zinc, or any alloy containing these metals as major ingredients. In order to avoid unnecessary contamination of the Bonderite C-AK 4181 solution, parts that are excessively dirtied should be pre-cleaned to remove excess oils and shop soils. Every three to six months, particles detached by this solution that will not dissolve should be removed. The recommended method for removal is a sludge basket at the bottom of the tank.
Formally known as Turco 4181, Bonderite C-AK 4181 Cleaner is a free-flowing alkaline mixture that efficiently removes oils, rust, paint, light scale, and additional shop soils from dirtied jet engine parts. This product remains non-flammable in original powder or mixed solution form, and rinses away from parts easily with high-pressure water or recommended immersion methods.
