Araldite EP 300 A/B High Temperature Epoxy Adhesive
Araldite EP 300 A/B is a two component, extrudable, room temperature cure, gap filling, high temperature epoxy paste adhesive. This advance material provides good retention of strength after environmental aging and is no SVHC as defined under REACH. The combination of high shear strength and compression allows for this product to be suitable for composites such as a liquid shim. The epoxy offers a fast cure, rapid buildup of lap shear strength and has an easy to process mix ratio of 2:1 PBV.
Araldite EP 300 A/B Key Properties:
- Excellent for Liquid Shim
- Room Temperature Cure
- High Lap Shear Strength and Compression at Ambient and Elevated Temperatures
- Maximum Service Temperature up to 204°C
- Good Retention of Strength after Environmental Aging
- Gap-Filling Thixotropic Paste
- 2:1 Mix Ration by Volume
- No SVHC
Specific gravity of Araldite EP 300 mixed is 1.3 and the viscosity at 25°C is a thixotropic paste. 125 gm of material at room temperature will have a gel tome of 45 minutes per ASTM D-2471. Part A Resin is off-white in color and Part B hardener is gray, once the two components are thoroughly mixed together the color of the adhesive will be gray. Mix ratio is 100 parts by weight of Part A to 67 parts by weight of Part B. Under normal temperature conditions using the recommended mix ratio, working time will be approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
Substrates that will be bonded need to be properly treated and cleaned from any contaminants. Mixing for several minutes is required until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Araldite EP 300 A/B should be spread with a spatula to the suitably pretreated dry joint surfaces. A layer of 0.1 to 0.3mm thick will normally provide the maximum lap shear strength. The epoxy adhesive is formulated to be effective in layers up to 3mm. Once applied, the two substrates need to be clamped together immediately. Lap shear strength cured in room temperature is 690 for 4 hours, 3,500 for 6.5 hours and 4,200 for 24 hours. The recommended cure cycle is 3 to 5 days at 25°C and approximately 1 hour at 66°C.
Before handling, reading and understanding the Huntsman Araldite EP 300 A/B MSDS is strongly recommended. When stored in a dry location in its original unopened container, Araldite EP 300 will have a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture. After use, do not return adhesive into container because it may be contaminated. Proper ventilation is required or appropriate NIOSH approved respirator. Avoid any contact with skin or eyes.
