FLUIDS
XIAMETER® Brand Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) Fluids offer very low viscosity (= 2 cSt). The polydimethylsiloxane fluids are categorized as volatile methylsiloxanes (VMS). In the United States, VMS fluids are exempt from regulation as volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Features and Benefits include;

  • Excellent water repellency
  • Good dielectric properties over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies
  • Low glass transition (Tg) temperature
  • Low surface tension
  • Heat stability
  • Oxidation resistance
  • Very low vapor pressure
  • High flash point
  • Inert, nonreactive

Typical Uses

  • Mechanical fluids
  • Dielectric coolants
  • Insulating and damping fluids for electrical and electronic equipment
  • Release agents
  • Foam control
  • Surface active fluids
  • Lubricants
  • Ingredients for cosmetic and personal care formulations, polishes and specialty chemical products
  • Plastics additives

Structure
Xiameter PDMS Fluid Structure

XIAMETER polydimethylsiloxane fluids are linear, siloxane polymers that vary in viscosity from very low to ultrahigh.
From their siloxane backbone, PDMS fluids draw strength, stability and flexibility.
From their attached methyl groups, PDMS fluids gain inertness, lubricity, release properties and water repellency.

Automotive

Silicone Rubber Advantages
Longer service life in adverse environments
Unaffected by weather – rain, snow, humidity, ozone or damaging ultraviolet (UV) rays
Flexible and resilient across a wide temperature range
Good electrical insulating qualities that do not change significantly under exposure to severe environmental stress
Enhanced comfort and feel of consumer goods
Excellent sealing performance
Inert (no taste or smell) nature enables many food-contact options
A wide hardness range (from 10 to 80 Shore A)
A wide range of color choices (from transparent to brightly colored)
Excellent processability, more fabricating options, increased productivity

Composition
Silicone rubbers are inorganic synthetic elastomers made from a crosslinked silicon-based polymer reinforced with filler. They offer unique chemical and mechanical properties that organic elastomers just can’t match.

XIAMETER silicone rubbers are available to you in two forms to meet processing needs. Learn more about the chemistry and uses of these rubber forms:
High consistency silicone rubber (HCR)
-XIAMETER high consistency silicone rubber (HCR) materials are ready-to-use blends of silicone rubber base, fillers, modifiers, vulcanizing agents and pigments, heat cured to form elastomeric components
Liquid silicone rubber (LSR)
-XIAMETER liquid silicone rubber (LSR) compounds are two-part pumpable silicone materials that are mixed and rapidly heat-cured to form elastomeric components.
