Dow Corning Q3-6611 is a one component, heat cure adhesive with good flowability and high tensile strength. This advance material has a versatile cure processing controlled by temperature and it is able to flow, fill or self-level after dispensing. It is well suited for gasketing, connecter sealing, ABS, Lighting, attaching baseplates, sealing lids and housings.
Dow Corning Q3-6611 Gray has a viscosity of 92375 and a specific gravity of 1.32 cured. Heat cure at 100° Celsius will take approximately 180 minutes, at 125° Celsius, cure time decreases to about an hour. If time is an issue, this innovative adhesive can be heat cured at 150° Celsius decreasing the cure time to 30 minutes. Increasing the cure temperature and the time will deliver the ultimate adhesion. The product is dispensed by automated or manual needle. Surfaces need to be cleaned or degreased before applying the adhesive. Light surface abrasion is recommended whenever possible because it promotes excellent cleaning and increases the surface area for bonding.
The material is formulated to offer excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates including glass, ceramics, many reactive metals, laminates, resins and plastics. Adhesion cannot be expected on non-reactive plastic surfaces such as polyethylene Teflon or polypropylene. Dow Corning primers can be used to increase the chemical activity on difficult to bond substrates. This silicone elastomer is effective over a temperature range of -45 to 200° Celsius. Anything higher or lower may affect the performance in the applications and it may need additional considerations.
